FAQs

Ultra violet is a segment of the broad radiation that comes from the sun towards the earth. UV is divided into UV-A, UV-B & UV-C. Visible light and infrared radiation can also damage skin

Effective protection against harmful rays like UVA, UVB and Visible Light (Blue Light) that cause dermal & epidermal hyperpigmentation, pro-aging, photo aging, sunburns, dull skin & acne.

Blue Light is part of the visible light spectrum – what the human eye can see. Vibrating within the 450 to 495 nm range, it has the shortest wavelength and highest energy. About one-third of all visible light is considered high-energy visible or “blue” light. Sunlight is the most significant source of blue light. Artificial sources of blue light include fluorescent light, compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs, LEDs, flat-screen LED televisions, computer monitors, smart phones, and tablet screens.

Research shows blue light from electronic devices can lead to changes in your skin cells, including cell shrinkage and death. This up the pro-aging process. Even exposures as short as 60 minutes can trigger these changes. Too much blue light could also lead to pigmentation.

Sunscreen can be of two types providing either physical or chemical barrier to sunlight. This protects skin against sunburn, premature skin ageing, photo dermatitis and decreases incidence of skin cancer. UV Doux Blue Light is a broad spectrum sunscreen that protects against UVA, UVB, Blue Light and IR rays. It is non-comedogenic

SPF refers to the ability of a sunscreen to block ultraviolet B (UVB) rays, which cause sunburns, but not UVArays, which are more closely linked to deeper skin damage. Both UVA and UVB contribute to the risk of skin cancer. UV Doux Blue Light has SPF 50 which offers very high sun protection.

Non-comedogenic is a term applied to oils, lotions and skin creams that do not block pores. Non-comedogenic products are also sometimes referred to as non-occlusive. The theory behind using non-comedogenic product is that, it does not clog pores & will reduce the incidence of pimples. Acne sufferers are strongly encouraged to avoid products that contain known comedogenic substances because these can worsen acne symptoms. Most products designed for use on acne prone skin do not include ingredients that are known to be comedogenic. However, some sunscreen do include oil-based ingredients that can be very problematic for certain individuals. UV Doux Blue Light is oil free, non-comedogenic & safe.

Anyone over the age of six months should use a sunscreen daily. Even those who work inside are exposed to ultraviolet radiation for brief periods throughout the day, especially if they work near windows, which generally filter out UVB but not UVArays. Children under the age of six months should not be exposed to the sun, since their skin is highly sensitive to the chemical ingredients in sunscreen as well as to the sun’s rays and blue light exposure. Shade and protective clothing are the best ways to protect infants from the sun.

• Every day if you will be outside. The sun emits harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays year round.
• Even on cloudy days, up to 80% of the sun’s harmful UV rays can penetrate your skin.
• Snow, sand and water increase the need for sunscreen because they reflect the sun rays.

• Apply liberally & evenly on the face, neck & exposed area of skin 20-30 minutes prior to sun & blue light exposure.
• Re – apply sunscreen approximately every two hours or after swimming or sweating heavily
